Very Poor and Unprofessional Employees

I simply walked in to find out the cost of membership. Was told by female at front desk that she needed my name and number before I could talk with someone. Whats up with that? They dont need personal information for a potential client to find out the cost. No flyers or information posted. I got into argument with the female and asked for manager. She finally went got someone and then whispered to him what was going on right in front of me. he was as rude as she was. Very poor customer service. Needless to say I will not joining.

LA Fitness never lets your bank account alone.

Per contract, I sent a cancellation letter to LA Fitness in July. Now in November, 4 months and 5 letters later, they are still taking money out of my bank account. Two letters ago, in October, I told them, that if they did not cease financing their business out of my account, that i would inform media and the public about their business practices, so here is fair warning to anyone doing or contemplating doing business with them. In my 6th letter, I asked them for a refund of what they have taken the last 2 months and postage for the 6 letters i have had to send them. No reply from them.

Duped into personal traning - Impossible to cancel

I have offered a free session of the personal training. They pushed me for the taking a personal training by showing discounts and free sessions at sign up. La fitness guy did not tell me about the cancellation can't be done within a year. I freeze account for few months. La fitness customer care worst. Lack of information. First they told me you can cancel the personal training if your moving 25 miles away from the club. Then I was actually about to move from that place. So after moving to new place I called them and asked to cancel the membership. Now LA Fitness customer said you can cancel the membership if you are 25 miles away from any of their club. WOW. so I should travel 25 miles to go to gym even if there is one next to my door I am in New Jersey they have club at Startan Island. So I told them to go there I have to pay 10 dollars in toll and its 20 miles from my place. And Believe me They said NO we can not cancel it You have to keep paying monthly charges. You can pay out and cancel the membership for that you have to pay 6 months charges. Isn't it cool. You been there for month or two. Pay 6 months charges and cancel the membership. Its Easy. I will say easy way out to change the card They don't report to the credit buero so they will keep calling you for sometime but can't charge you anymore

Charged for two years while I was in Iraq

I was TDY Iraq. I suspended my account was gone for 19 months and charged the whole time. It took four months after returning to stop the charges. Could not use the gym upon returning due to injury and operation. Was told they could only return 6 months of dues or give me a year of membership. Not a damn thing has happened in four more months. Feel free to contact Jason Daily 480-988-**** in Cave Creek district manager or Catalina Rodriguez at the corp office 949-255-****. They are a bunch of crooks and nothing can be done as of yet.

LA Fitness Not Honoring Contract

I signed up for an LA fitness membership on 7/22/2009. I was given a contract by the sales representative for a multi-club membership, 0 initiation fee, 34.99 a month. The contract was given to me and I accepted the terms, and gave them a credit card for payment. LA Fitness informed me that they were going to give me a 7 day pass and I was to return after the pass expired to initiate my membership. I returned on 7/29/2009 and spoke to the representative, Ray Diaz (phone# 954 610 2471). He informed me that they would not be able to honor the rate given to me on 7/22/2009 even though I have a contract executed by both parties for the aforementioned rate. They informed me that the rate that they offered "did not get approved", even though they offered it to me, put it in a contact, and accepted my credit card information. The manager at this location did not offer any remedy when I said that I would not accept a higher rate. I called the corporate office and spoke to Nina who offered little to no assistance. She informed me that even though I had a contract that they would not honor that rate. In summary, I signed up for a specific rate, signed a contract provided by LA Fitness to me, and now LA Fitness refuses to honor it.

L.A Fitness, states that they welcome you like family and make you feel comfortable. Well actually its not that at all.

The North dale mabry, and Vandyke L.A Fitness, in Tampa,Florida is B.S.! They are rude, hang up on you on the phone, are definitely one of the worst gyms i have ever been a member to. The manager Kendra does a horrible job running that gym, and should be removed of her duties.I find that if the manager hangs up on you on the phone that what the *** is she doing in that position of power. I would highly recommend joining life style family fitness or a 24 hour gym so that u don't have to worry about *** staff, service.

I am revoking my membership tomorrow. They rip you off and then give u *** service.

I didnt think they did this often. Almost same thing happened to my family.

We signed up 4 of us at $35 a month with 150 registration. Turns out they charged us 2times per person for both registry and month. We tried to get in contact with the worker who gave us the contract, but suprise, suprise, he no longer worked there.

We left those thieves. :(

Requested a 3 month membership, paid cash and they took the 3 months money off my card.

LA Fitness in Coconut Creek, Fl. My daughter came home from college for summer vacation and requested a gym membership. I paid for the application fee with my debit card and paid the 3 months fee in cash, LA Fitness subsequently took the same three months fees off my card and continued to bill even after my daughter went back to college. When I complained they said she did not cancel. Why would you cancel when you only requested 3 months. The state Attorney General need to put a stop to scams like these as these companies continue to do these things to unsuspecting consumers. STAY AWAY FROM LA FITNESS. When I call their corporate office the female on the phone hung up on me.

When you have a contract for LA Fitness, it states that you can cancel, but you have to provide a notice to the company, and it has to be within a certain time frame.

Guest

Did you read the agreement that you signed? I'm guessing you didn't.

No attorney can save people who sign things they don't read. Good Luck.

LA Fitness Trainers, Injuries, And Liars!

I am 47 and I have severe osteoarthritis in my back. I was told I got to meet with a trainer 1x for free.. woohoo, kewl..NOT! The young man was 24 130 pounds soaking wet. I did not know until later he was NOT an actual trainer. So he works me out, I told him ahead of time all my health issues. He worked me like I was his age and in perfect health. I told him my back was starting to hurt in one area and he said well just 2 more.. I don't know why I went with it. I guess I thought he knows more than me..duh When I was done my legs shook and I could barely walk. I was tired, and felt like vomiting really bad, told him that and he said that was normal. I thought I was signing an agreement like when I joined the club. I gave these poo heads over 600.00 for the trainer, first month plus fee's. He asked what day I wanted to make payments, I said the 4th. Well I went home and the next morning I could not get out of bed! I was in so much pain I was in tears, and I can tolerate A LOT of pain! My legs hurt so bad, and also the spot in my back I told him was hurting while he was working me. I did not look at the paperwork for 3 days, it was a weekend so I had until Monday 6/1.. I looked at the contract the night before..thank God! So I sent a letter to their main offices and hand delivered one to the club. I have not been back since I was injured. I was LIVID when I saw he had lied to me and tricked me about what I was getting. I thought I was signing up month to month. he said I can cancel ANY TIME with 30 day notice. He never said there would be penalties, nor did he tell me I had 3 days to cancel. Then I went to the web, HOLY ****! I was shocked to see all the hundreds of complaints, same problems I had and am having. I talked to him today and he said I couldn't get out of it because it was longer than 3 days.. I said no, it was 3, he said "well saturday is also a biz day"..LMAO..***! I said no it isn't and he said well the banks are open. So then he tried to pull something else out of his butt by saying I signed the contract at 2pm on the 27th, so I had only until 2pm on the 1st to cancel and I didnt come until 5:30. I told him nice try, I had until midnight on the 3rd day and I read it to him off the dumb contract. He also tried to fast talk me into keeping the trainer.. I said NO i want it canceled, period! So he said he had to talk to someone and would get back to me in 48 hours and would freeze my account so they wouldn't take anymore money.. Oh yeah, they took 525.00 out of my account only 5 days after I already paid them for the first month!!! I am disputing it through my bank now. Anyhow, I get an email "confirming" the freeze..But it said only frozen until Aug, as I had requested!!!! Whatever these people smoke should be smoked when not working! I didn't request anything, I demanded they stop stealing my money and I want out of my contract!! I am so angry about this. I told him i was going to cancel my club membership too because they are not honest and I just don't want anything more to do with this place after this. I just had never thought to look online before going there. And yes I should of read the contract before signing. I tried and he would keep interrupting me, talking to me, and being all sweet and funny. He kept my mind off what I was signing, and I am sure everyone has had that experience with these screwed salesmen. I am not be blamed. But I DID cancel before my 3 days were up.

:grin I did get all my money back.. And I got it quickly! On the 3rd day I not only gave my La fitness the cancellation letter, but I also sent one to the main office. And then I kept on both sides until I was told my contract was for sure cancelled!!

I got all my 1200.00 bucks back within 10 days! And I have learned a lot from this. To never sign anything like this again, and to always sleep on it..Never let them talk you into signing anything until you have a couple of days to think about it and do a google search;-)

Had I done that I would never have signed that contract. And NEVER EVER believe anyone trying to sell you something. It is safer to assume they are out to get as much $$ from you as they can.

I decided to keep my monthly club membership with them. It's a good price, and close. So now I just need to get these people to show me how to use the equipment and what to use that will work for me. I sure cannot walk in there and just know.

That it what they were supposed to be doing the first day I went and instead put my back out and sold me something I couldn't afford.

Fraud, scam from La fitness

When i signed up for La fitness i have to pay first and last month upfront. When i cancelled they still ask me to pay more than my monthly charges, cause my credit card did not work. They ask me to pay another month and that my last month doesn't cover it and she told me last month was free. I told them it was not free cause i already paid for it. So everybody if u join La fitness please don't sign any contract with them. Is all ***. They just want to charge u guys for more money if u cancelled to keep the place up. Very bad agreement.I hope they close down the place

They are scam artists. Don't give them your credit card data don't sign a contract.

They will bill you and bill you and deny that you canceled and then delay the cancellation and bill you some more. They are crooks.

I have worked out at 24 hour -- they are fine and at Life time - they are great. Just don't get involved with LA Fitness they are truly bad news.

Guest

Dear Commenter Theresa...you are an ***. Just because there is not a contract does not give LA Fitness the right to scam everyone who walks in the door.

You need to get your facts straight! ***

Guest

They don't have contacts. Just because you didn't make a payment doesn't mean you don't owe for that month.

PLUS its electronic billing, it takes 10 days to guarantee its stopped. Get your facts!

L.A. Fitness

Put simply everything that they due concerning the agreement is legal in all senses. First simply READ READ READ READ the agreement!!!!! This has been the glaring mistake in 90% of all the posts that are concerning L.A Fitness. Secondly go at the end of the month for the best deal on a membership (Never pay Account activation fee, will be waived in a heartbeat). Thirdly do NOT pay for a personal trainer or personal classes! This is a complete waste. Then fourthly try and plan out how long you will use the gym membership and all cancelation details. L.A. for example requires all members to cancel by use of a letter that is printed out online or at a club. You should send this in 30 days before your next billing cycle via certified mail. This way you will have proof of the delivery and receipt of the cancelation form. Simple as that Excuse the grammar and word choice am in a hurry. Hope it helps.

LA Fitness keeping money that is not theirs.

I signed up my stepdaughter for three months, paid in full. There was not supposed to be any monthly fees. I had signed up too, along with professional training. My credit card account had a couple charges until my training was over then it was down to one...which i figured was my monthly fee. I just went in to cancel since I was not going at all. They told me that the charges weren't mine, they were my stepdaughters. Now they are refusing to return all my money that there were not supposed to be taking out. What a rip off. I wish businesses had some level of ethics and morals. They will keep money that doesn't belong to them because they have it and it's a pain to get it back. Its a shame.

The LA Fitness organization are composed of thieves. Hide your cards.

LA Fitness has stolen $146.27 from my debit card. I never gave them permission to charge my card I used the card to pay an application fee for my daughter and nothing else. They just continued to charge my card though my daughter paid them cash for her three month membership. LA Fitness and other organizations with similar practices need to stop ripping off the public. When you go to places like LA FITNESS do not use your card pay in cash only and get a receipt. They will find a way to ***, do not believe anything the sales staff says they have been trained to lie to the public. Consider yourselves warned about these companies.

LA Fitness our thieves

LA Fitness used my Debt card without my authorization for a total of $436.00. I never even signed up for their services. No contract was ever signed by me. I have made 12 attempts (and still trying) to get a hold of the regional vice president. This is the only person who can authorize a refund I'm told. It took 8 calls to get that far. I have been told that this person has been E-mailed 6 time and received 4 of my phone messages. I still have not heard back after 13 days of trying. NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Been a member for three years. High turnover among employees, facility is dirty most times I have been there such as slimely shower floors and oil and dirt floating in the hot tub.

No consistency of policies at the front desk. Today, I was told that my guest couldn't come in with me for the first time in 3 years.

In a market with so much competition, they are forcing themselves out of business. I'm in a contract and will not be renewing

Guest

they are crooks. Pure and simple.

It is a scam to get your credit card data and them look out because it will take a lawyer to get it canceled. This is what happened to me. They delay, deny and then you have to write letter after letter to end the misery. Just don't do it.

I have had memberships at 24 hour -- good.

and Life time -- great. But LA Fitness --- just don't do it.

Orlando, FL - Colonial Drive East...

I was lied to on my personal trainer plan as well. When originally presented with the plan and contract, I took it home and reviewed and thought it over and did come back with a list of questions and expectations. Due to my schedule, I can only work out in the mornings and told them this. I told the manager this and he asked “what could he do to help?” I asked him all I wanted was a trainer who I felt was up to my level of training – someone I could learn from. I told him the trainers I felt I would benefit from and also the ones I questioned if they even had actual credentials to train; the ones I did not want to train with. The manager said he’d have no problem scheduling a trainer at that time – it would not be a problem at all. I accepted this and signed the contract.

When I went to schedule my first training session, I was told that the trainers I wanted worked in the morning and I would have to change my schedule to meet theirs. This went on for just over two months. I have cancelled my membership of 3 years and cancelled the credit card they charged from and I am now taking legal actions against them. If you are considering a Personal Trainer program with LA Fitness, don’t do it.

Overall, the gym is fair - the gyms tend to get cluttered and dirty and both weight and cardio machines tend to break down - not get repaired for sometimes up to a month...not really worth the $39 a month for a basic membership either.

Orlando has plenty of other gyms in town – a new 24 hour fitness, Planet fitness and Golds. Consider them before considering LA Fit.

THEY TRIED TO RIPPED ME OFF!!!

I joined the gym back in 2005 from out of town , well first of all the gut who signed me up gave me a discount thru a home depot employee? but the problem was I wasn't a home depot employee. So I got my discount and then they signed me up for a fitness training which they said I could cancel within 30 days? I found out later after 10/days that that wasn't so. I had met someone who use to work for L.A. Fintess and was told to call and ask for the president of the company which works ou tof the Perimeter mall gym and complain to the state attorney general of georgia when yo cal the gym . here is the page below. I called and got all my money back. they havent bugged me since... don't get mad get even find out your rights!!!

SmelLA Fitness - Dallas, TX

I have been fit for over 20 years and belonged to many gyms and this was the arm pit gym from ***.

Trainers -

Of course, I fell for the "free" personal training used car pitch and was insulted at the ignorance of the personal trainers. I am a type 1 diabetic and not once did they ask if I had any medical conditions.

After being dragged through a kindergarten level explanation of the benefits of exercise, I basically had to tell the guy, "I'm sorry, but your service isn't worth free, much less $50 a session."

Locker Room & Equipment-

Deciding to keep the membership for 90 days due to long workdays/winter weather and the inability to workout outside, I soon encountered the "wet dog" smell of the locker room that never went away. Everything seemed "greasy" and unsanitary, and no effort was made to keep the place clean. Not only that, you had to try 2 or 3 cardio machines to find one that wasn't bent, squeaking or otherwise not working. Seriously, how can it be good for you to use an elliptical with one bent pedal??

Towels -

On many occasions, they were out of the towels I paid the extra $5 a month to use and on more than one occasion, the towel smelled like it had never been washed - only dried. It is enough to make you vomit when you are working out and go to wipe off only to smell someone else's dried sweat.

Management -

I enjoy shooting basketball a couple of times a week, but the basketball courts at this place are overrun by teenage thugs from 6pm-close every night. Not an organized league, just a group of parking lot thugs playing full court indoors. I've waited as much as an hour and a half for these thugs to get off the court and even after front desk staff indicated they had received many complaints, still failed to take action.

Threat of assault -

The last straw came just last week, after 3 of us waited around and tried to squeeze in some b-ball time, only to be run over by the full court thugs as usual.

This time, one of them punted a basketball at me and told me to get off the court. I said, "I pay my dues just like you, so you need to share the court." After being further intimidated, I walked out and canceled my membership immediately.

Customer Service -

I have not heard from the "Operations Manager" that was supposed to contact me about the incident. I did receive notification that my membership was canceled per my request, but that it was still active until July 20, 2009. I demanded a refund from corporate and they referred me to the "Ops Manager" at the location, who said it was his 2nd day on the job. The corporate membership *** had the nerve to say, "why don't you just try to work out at a different time of day?" I joined to avoid evening rush hour traffic, so I need to pick a time other than 6-11pm?? Did I mention that they start shutting the lights off 15 minutes before the posted closing time??

I am pretty confident this chain will be out of business soon and it suits them well. Their staff can go back to selling the used cars glutting the market and the thugs can find a basketball rim in a parking lot somewhere.

the other issue related to smell is that LA Fitness has the worst indoor air quality of any gym in the country. Not only are they next to freeways with all the pollution form automobiles but they use commercial air freshener and tons of other chemicals in the gyms.

Guest

In addition to the complete disregard for cleanliness particularly dried sweat on the machines..ew! and the fact that the bathrooms/locker rooms don't appear to be cleaned on the regular.I am still waiting for the aerobics coordinator to call me regarding music used in the spin class containing the n word.

Since the manager didnt seemed completely umempathetic, my next move is to call corporate. I'm sure that will be an interesting experience
