Membership cancellation penalty

Membership cancellation penalty- My wife and I joined LA Fitness (Dunedin, FL) last January. I signed up for personal trainer services (Jan-June). We enjoyed the quality of the Club and Trainer instruction up until LA Fitness closed due to the virus risk. Our LA Fitness reopened yesterday May 25. I am 72 years old and have a prosthetic aortic heart valve. It is not time for me to go back to the club environment. I do not want to risk my health until such time as there is no resurgence of the virus. When I called LA Fitness yesterday I was told by Operations Manager, Jose, that membership cancellations could not be conducted via phone and that I could come in to the club to cancel. When I arrived at the club today Jose cancelled our membership but then directed me to Steve, the Personal Trainer director. Then the bad news was delivered. Steve advised he could pend the Personal Trainer charges but I would be required to continue monthly membership charges until I chose to return. We do not intend to return to the gym for a few months so that was not an option. Steve then stated I would be charged 50% of the remaining contract, $660.00. My contract was to expire in June. LA Fitness extended the contract to August due to the business closure, and now I am obligated to pay through August instead of June. If I had cancelled due to other reasons I could understand a penalty would apply. I have no control over these circumstances. My doctors advised it is not advisable to return to gym at this time due to age and health condition. LA FITNESS is all about the money and personal safety is down the list.

Adjustment on membership

I just recently signed up and dont understand why I have to pay last month dues if the club wasnt open due to covid and my initiation fee was $75 when I work for Hertz and have a 50% initiation fee the worker said that he never heard of it that my membership wouldnt be valid

LA Fitness refused to let me cancel

I prepaid La Fitness 3 yrs ahead. Due to Corina I've decided it's not safe. I went back when they reopened. People weren't social distancing or wearing masks. I was training with a trainer and a lady refused to leave our area. And she had no mask on. The trainer was unable to get her to leave our workout area even though we were there b4. She came and insisted on staying in our area. This compromised our space and my health. I've paid a lot of money to them and I can't use the facility. And I was told I can not cancel and get a refund. And I am an At Risk client.

LA fitness administration..

At this time I am completely upset trying to contact the main office..I did call the gym @ 713489**** asking for support with a reimbursement..since we are in the actual situation, at this moment I would love to still with my membership but freeze the payments. I had a withdrawal from my bank account for June and then July..They provide me with a phone number (949255****).

I was calling several times from July the 2 and waited for hours in the phone with no answer and not response from the gym..At this time I am in a really difficult situation but it looks like the LA club don't care about members but just the money..there is not customer support.....when calling back to the gym a representative told me he was in the main office and they are not reimbursing...because they sent an email last week in May and continue recollecting payments and he told me there was nothing I could do about this...I didn't have access to internet Last 3 months..and barely paying my rent...with those withdrawals my financial situation is being affected. Since this is a service I am not using it now...because safety in Houston (high risk customer here-asthma) and financial priorities too..

To many employees

I want to let you know every time I come to the gym there are like 5 people working, all just sitting around. Why do you have so many people working, sitting on their phones, and then charging people so much for their monthly gym fees.

Not following Covid-19 Guidelines

Please be advised that I am a member in the Commack NY location and have witnessed numerous members violating Covid-19 mask guidelines. There is no management handling these issues and there is very little staff addressing the issues. Members are not wearing masks, are wearing non-approved style masks or wearing them below their nose and nothing is being done to correct it. I have spoken to other members who are planning to cancel or freeze their memberships due to this. I am contacting HQ to request that this matter be reviewed and resolved quickly before the location is shut down by the inspectors/authorities. I would like to continue my membership but will not if this matter is not addressed and corrected immediately. Kindly respond a.s.a.p. Thank you.

Despicable Customer Service from VP Terrance

I have called Chicago Hyde Park Signature Club on 3 occasions since this facility reopened, to cancel. My first call on July 1, 2020, I spoke to Jordan who stated he would cancel my membership for me. On July 3, 2020, I placed a second call to cancel when I was charged $42.29 by La Fitness and the club hasn't even been open to use for months. I spoke to Terrance who advised me that he was now VP and that he would allow Jordan to do his job and that I would receive a call back from Jordan, that never happened. This call with Terrance was rudely ended by him hanging up the phone on me. My third call was placed on July 7, 2020 when an additional $10.00 was taken from my account. It was on this third call that the level of customer service delivered by VP Terrance was appalling, to say the least. Terrance was rude, condescending and snarky. He made light of the charges made to my account by saying " I'll refund your little $10.00 since that's what you're calling about. Terrance then placed my call on hold and returned stating that he would refund both charges to my account and send an email, but also in fact, he would give me a call...neither happened. So he was also dishonest in his response and inept in his ability to handle this matter properly. This Uncouth level of customer service certainly wasn't displayed when he signed me up for membership.
