This is for LA Fitness in Burlington Ontario on Appleby line.
Scammers, I came in November 2020, asked to cancel my membership and my wife's membership. Fast forward to this year, they 'reactivated' the accounts.
I spent 20 minutes on the phone for nothing until I was handed over to the manager who said they would not refund me except one month, claiming emails were sent out. I never got that email and regardless it's not my fault their reps screwed up.
They insisted on freezing my membership when I specifically told them I am CANCELLING as I go to another gym all together (I moved gyms). They try to outtalk me on the phone and I told them outright, stop it with the run on sentence, you messed up and this is terrible customer service. Taking my money when I never stepped foot in the gym.
Shame on you thieves.
As far as the gym goes, one of the better LA fitness gyms BUT it's junk compared to proper gyms, never going to an LA Fitness ever again. Also when COVID happened first, their lineups and other non-sense was bs, I got 40 minutes to workout (considering lineup, bathroom, cleaning, etc...).
Other gyms have fobs and scheduling and you get an hour and a half and no one RUNNING AFTER YOU screaming to get out. Disgusting.

I joined this gym 4/15/21 for 2 specific reasons. I've had major lower lumbar issues.
Last winter I had 2-bulging discs so -- First to rehab after a back injury by using a personal trainer. Second, to use the stairmaster because it realigns my back and gets me into great shape cardio-wise at a low-impact. (Because of my Back Issues the other cardio equipment causes pain. After using the Elliptical for 30 minutes my back hurt and I could not sleep.)
PROBLEMS
1.
When I signed up the salesman said if I signed up for 1 weekly session for a year and if I paid a portion in advance I could use more sessions per week. That ended up being totally false. I had to pay the total contract in one lump sum before being able to use more than one session per week.
2. There were 5 stair masters when I registered.
All but one have been DOWN for 2 MONTHS. That means I either wait 30-60 minutes to use one or come late at night or during work hours which is NOT possible. Because of my back issues the other cardio equipment causes pain. I wouldn't have joined this gym if I would have known there would only be one stairmaster that was in operation.
3.
Other equipment is NOT well maintained. Particular stations have been down since I became a member in April. At times 10% of the other cardio equipment is out of order. I've never had a membership at a gym with such horribly maintained equipment!
4.
There are ZERO spray bottle stations in the gym to keep equipment clean. Occassionally there are a few spray bottles at the front desk which is not enough for the entire gym.
BENEFITS
1. Because of my personal trainer I've been able to gain strength and become 100% fully mobile again.
You may want to know that a friend at work used this gym once and was very disappointed in the shape of the equipment. He decided it was not for him.
I'm sure he is not the only other person who has decided against joining this particular gym.
The staff is great at this gym but have NO ability to get equipment repaired.
They have put in numerous requests to have the stairmasters repaired and have been told parts are on order for the past 2 months.
I would ask that I be credited the 2 months when the stairmasters have been down. If the stairmasters aren't repaired within the week I'd like the money I spent on personal training to be credited back to me so I can continue training at a gym with well maintained equipment - chiefly Stairmasters.

Because technically its not 100%my fault.
Also I am not appreciated how he assisted me over the phone, Aso he blamed me that I did not returned call when he left his massage.
So I checked the massage, I found it but it was recorded only 5 seconds I did not get complete message from Alex.
I dont even know what was about.
Anyway how he treated me as well as the trainer who sign me out, I definitely felt I was discriminated and took advantage because I was not native speaker. I made sure so many times there is no contract and I trusted my personal trainer and thats how I sighed for perosnal training.
Yes maybe it was my fault not read through the documents but I felt like Alex is saying its my fault that this situation happened.
Like I said I trusted LA fitness trainer and now i wont be able to cancel (cost me $800)

It is frequently running out of towels, they told me today that the washer was broken. I asked the guy, so you only have one washer?.
On Saturday, August 14, there was a guy in the stepper with 2 long towels and 2 short towels The number of towels by member should be limited to one of each, otherwise, do not guarantee towels when enrolling a new member. That's deceiving. The family restroom was out of service because the toilet was clogged, and it was full of crap all over the place last Saturday, August 21st. The toilet paper dispensers are broken and when you take a crap, you have to hold the paper with one hand. The toilets are always dirty and full of crap. They compare to the portable potty of disgusting and stinking that they are.
Used towels, masks, underwear, empty bottles of shampoo and garbage all over the place in the lockers and showers.
The showers and floors of this gym have not seen a pressure washer in years. The soap dispensers are full of *** the tiles, and floors with hair from razors for days, showers without light, bugs in the ceiling of the showers, the grouts of each shower are disgusting and full of germs. At times, there are even 6 employees in the front desk laughing, bouncing a basketball when only one is needed and the other five can be cleaning and maintaining the facility because that is what I pay for. They are constantly on their phones, texting. LA should not allow their employees to text or listen to music on their phones. If they want to listen to music, the gym has music playing constantly. The gym offers a Healthy facility, towels, body soap, shampoo, conditioner, toilet and paper towel and equipment, all of that, in exchange for $39/month. Do people get a discount when we do not have these things constantly. The doors of the stalls don't close, and the frames are rusted, making the door shake when you are trying to get some privacy doing your business. Good luck with that!
The wood in the frame of the sauna is rotten. It was probably Saturday, August 7th or 14th that the dispenser of paper towel next to the elliptical and treadmill machines by the trainers' area was empty. Employees were passing by, and no one had the decency of bringing a new role. It has to be a member, called Mary, who went back and brought a freaking roll of paper towel and changed it by herself. That is not her job, but LA Fitness is charging her the monthly fee as usual. Several members including me went to the front desk and reported the dispenser out of paper. The complaint went in through and ear and got out through the other ear. I was a member of Crunch for many years and every Saturday morning they were pressuring washing the showers and constantly changing the shower curtains. These are not even $2 in Walmart and the gym only have 10 showers. If you buy them in bulk it's probably less than $1. Even in the Dollar Tree, you can buy them for $1. But you guys are lazy and pigs. I am sorry for it is the truth. We are in the middle of a pandemic and many times there are not disinfectant spray bottles in the front desk. Before the lift of the masks and when the business came fully operational, these bottles were in the front desk all the time. Once this was a lifted, the gym stopped providing these bottles. After I complain, they started to put them out again, but not as many as before.

NI just had absolutely worst customer service experience in my life with LA Fitness in Parsippany. I came to sign up with a club since I relocated and my current gym is over 25 min driving.
I applied for the guest pass and came to the club with the intention to get basic information and sign up. At the reception, I was forwarded to the Salesperson who was absolutely unknowledgeable and couldn't answer simple questions. She said that in order to receive the information about the cost of small group training I have to be a member. Seriously?
Does it make any sense? Then she said that she doesn't have this inf anyway. I asked if there is anyone who could answer How Much the training cost? She invited the General manager who couldn't give me the answer either and for my The Only question about the cost he started to asking me questions about my wellness goals.
I felt like it is unreal. I spent already 40 min talking to 2 people who couldn't say how Much the training cost. The manager said there is someone who's in charge of that section "He is behind you". I am turning around and see the guy seating behind legs spread out all comfy saying to me " Comon in here.
You should move here. I asked if he can just simply say the number and he insisted that I have to move there in order to receive the answer. I couldn't stand more of this nonsense and left.
Another question that nobody could answer is what is the "Price Fix guarantee $49 fee" that I have to pay in 2 weeks after joining the club. As the contract requires 4 months of commitment the price of the membership already fixed.
So, what is the fee for? Nobody knew the answer saying "You just have to pay it".
Also, there are promotional flyers (waving the initial sign-up fee) all over the place, I grabbed one of them to use at signing, and "Salesperson" said I can't use it as the offer expired last month. OK. But Why do you still have them all over the gym??
There is also no expiration date mentioned on the coupon.
Besides this terrible service, there is 0 inf on the website that you have to come 45 min in advance before any class in order to sign up in person. The classes are limited to 14 (!!! which is a lot ) people, so there is no guarantee to make it. As earlier you come, as better your chances.
I haven't noticed a single person wiping up equipment during my hour-long visit.
The bathrooms are not clean as well. There are many people in the management who work on strategies to attract people to the gym.
But the works are wasted due to the terrible service at the signup.
As much I wanted to join the club I would Never come back even for free to this place. Neither I recommend to anyone.
