Harassment by LA Fitness

Unbelieveable,had the same issue today. My credit card was stolen and the card was cancelled to stop fraud. Within 2 days of the billing payment not going through, I had multiple calls from various LA Fitness locations demanding I "pay my balance."How can I have a balance when you pay a month ahead plus leave a full months extra payment when you sign up? Argumentative jerks. I am just going to ignore them and call block them instead of giving them a new card. Is LA Fitness going bankrupt?Why else we they harass their loyal customers for $34?

This is a copy and paste of my email to LA SCAMFITNESS. It is hard to believe they treat people like a TURD. I initially joined Vic Tanny back in 1984, and was always billed/invoiced/notified in regards to EVERYTHING of importance to my membership along with all...

La Fitness in Mississauga, Ontario - Broken equipment, apathetic staff, long waits for power racks

The LA Fitness Mississauga location doesn't fix broken equipment. Nor will they get rid of equipment no one uses to get more of the equipment that their membership clearly wants. They also don't want to hear what you have to say. I spoke to the Operations Manager (Jacquie), "Hey, can I make a suggestion about needed equipment?" and she'll shut you down. "Sorry, we only have plans to fix what we have". I respond, "But you need more Power Racks. They are busy even off-peak. Get rid of the cardio equipment assets that are underutilized. Rebalance your equipment portfolio.". She's not going to hear it. She's the operations manager and didn't even know what a "Power Rack" referred to. No suggestion box either. No one wants to hear your suggestions. My full review here: http://www.yelp.com/biz/la-fitness-mississauga-2?hrid=tUbbV9dcDh8SKWFV83xPAQ

La Fitness in Houston, Texas - Suckered

Never had been to a gym before so when I signed up I was told I needed a trainer 3 days a week. Being a novice I didn't know better and was suckered into signing a contract by a hard core sales pitch. I'm not a body builder so I don't need a trainer telling me the same thing and working on the same machines over and over again. Learn from my bad experience -- don't get suckered in. Push back and walk away. They will get you all enthused, tell you how much benefit you'll see and that none of that can happen without a trainer.

Reality check......how would a gym make money without trying to sell you a membership and personal training sessions? It is your responsibility to say NO to whatever you don't want to do or buy.

You cannot get "suckered into" to doing anything. It is sad to see that the majority of people nowadays, instead of accepting responsibility for their own poor decisions, blame others instead. Why do people do this? Simple....this way you can always be the victim, the "poor me" syndrome.

Thus you never accept responsibility for your choices, which in turn means you never have to admit that YOU, in fact, made a bad decision. If we don't look at ourselves, then we never have to change. Sad, sad, sad.

And it's even more absurd that you would post a negative review of a company for doing their job and you making a poor decision.

@Reality check time

Well, you clearly don't know me and telling me that I don't accept responsibility for my own decisions is quite inaccurate. As far as posting a complaint, the complaint is valid and is my right to do so.

I signed the contract based on the information I was given, but I signed the contract and I'm fulfilling my responsibilities under that contract. The fact still remains and the information in that post is accurate. Yes, they are in business to make money, but doing so based on inaccurate information is not the way to do it. My post is a cautionary tale to others who might find themselves in a similar situation.

I bought their sales job hook, line and sinker and I'm hoping that others consider that the sales person might be more concerned about their sales numbers than providing a product appropriate for their customer. If that wasn't clear in my previous post, I hope that clears it up.

@Char

Not to argue with you, but I still don't understand what your complaint is regarding. You stated that you have never been to a gym, that you are not a body builder.

The sales person stated that you will not see results without a trainer and doing that required 3 days a week. Those are all accurate statements. Not meaning to be argumentative, I just don't understand the reason for blaming the salesperson for your decision to accept the terms or the contract. That's my point.

Sure, he was probably very pushy...he gets paid by commission, I'm sure. But, what was inaccurate?

I'm actually quite surprised that he only suggested 3 days a week for you to work out with the help of a trainer! In reality, he actually under-pitched the sale, in my opinion.

And you even said: "They will get you all enthused, tell you how much benefit you'll see and that none of that can happen without a trainer." *** yes, a trainer is a great motivator!

And if the trainer really motivates and pushes you, you can start seeing results in as little as a few weeks. And, how could it happen without a trainer, since you have never been to a gym and aren't familiar with a proper workout routine?

In my opinion, the salesperson is definitely concerned about his sales numbers...who wouldn't be if that is your livelihood, but he seemed quite concerned with your well-being as well, if he was going to work with you 3 times a week and show you the proper way to use the various gym equipment.
