Missed opportunity, LA Fitness Riverside....

5.0
Details
I had a horrible experience with a sales girl at the Arlington Ave location in Riverside, CA while attempting to make use of a guest pass. My girlfriend has been a member of LA Fitness for several years and, even though I prefer to run and workout outside, she convinced me to give it a try. The guest pass clearly states in the fine print that, "membership options may be presented," and I wasn't surprised when the sales girl asked me to sit down with her to talk about my goals and then show me around the facilities. She said it would take about 15 minutes, and my girlfriend and I asked her a second time to be clear, "about 15 minutes?" Of course, 15 minutes turned into an hour-long, high pressure sales pitch complete with condescending remarks, badgering, and even asking for my girlfriend's phone number to look up her account information. For example, "if you just didn't eat out one day a week, that would cover your membership costs... You don't go to Panera and order a salad, then say 'wait, let me go home and check my budget first' do you?" Ridiculous, disrespectful behavior!!! Before this, I had actually considered joining. But the sales girl only succeeded in turning a potential member into a definite NO, and a loyal, long-term member into a pissed off customer. The only way I was able to get her to stop was by PROMISING to come back the next evening after work. By the end of it all, I not only didn't want to join, I didn't even want to stay for the free workout. My girlfriend had already done an hour of cardio while waiting, so we just left. Ultimately, I was on the fence about joining ANY gym. The only reason I went to LA Fitness was because my girlfriend has been a member for a long time and I thought it might be nice for us to work out together sometimes. I don't know what kind of pressure these sales people are under, but after reading the testimony of this employee, I can only imagine! I had intended to write this letter to Curtis Johns, but he obviously has no interest in representing this brand in a positive way, to employees or customers. Looks like I'll just keep on keepin' on in nature, as I was always meant to do!

LA Fitness needs to seriously review and correct the direction their sales department takes with each potential customer. This review should start from the TOP and be modeled all the way down to individual customer service representatives.

My husband and I both signed up for gym memberships in July 2014, for a total of about $1,600. At the time of agreement my husband and I where unsure of signing a three year agreement, but the General Manager insisted that we could have our funds prorated back to us if...

La Fitness - Asked for 2 months with one of their trainers. They stuck me a contract with no evidence of a contract for my files!

Don't feel your alone. I asked to pay for the help of a trainer for a couple of months & I was asked some questions & told to put my initials on their screen - and I thought it was just the normal questions asked when hiring a trainer for a few months. Then I was told it was a contract that I signed. I never received anything in writing stating it was a contract. When I found out it was a contract I have tried to fight this with their cooperate office who refuses to take any responsibility for any of their actions. They say according to the contract that they have every right to charge me the way they have. It doesn't seem to matter to them that I never received a contract. Not only that but I told them very specifically not to take any money out of my account t until the 3rd of each month. They have done nothing to correct the problem or to be fair with me at all. It seems to be ONLY about taking money from me at any cost, even though I received no contract from them. Any suggestions to stop this? I would highly warn anyone who wants to join LA Fitness to ask the customers who they've wronged of their experience with LA Fitness first and be extremely aware of what they are capable of before ever hiring any of their trainers. If you don't educate yourself first you may end up very sorry! If you just join as a member for month to month only then you may have no problems.

La Fitness in San Diego, California - SORRENTO VALLEY - ADVISORS MISLEED YOU TO JOIN! TAKE YOUR MONEY AND SPIT YOU OUT

Details
I joined LA FITNESS a year ago and was told specifically that my 3- year membership would allow me to use gyms across the US. After paying for a year I found out inadvertently that my membership is only for California. This I found out from staff at Sorrento Valley LA FITNESS, however they told me, that the guy who signed me up was making false promises and was fired and that if I call the membership line they will correct the issue. Having called the membership line or office line I came across the worst woman I have ever come across. Her name is Colleen (extension 11294) the office number is 949-255-8220. She said that regardless of whether I was misled or not it doesn't matter and I will not get a correction on my membership. I would have thought they would have seen the light, considering that two of their own office staff admitted false advertising from the beginning, but Colleen was oblivious and said that I would have to pay MORE!! despite being misled. Go to 24 Hour Fitness or any other gym that costs less (this place is the dumps). Don't hand over your money until you are satisfied in the integrity and service level of the gym and its staff.

La Fitness - MONEY HUNGRY

Details
Had a PT for 49 weeks and they fired him and 4 hours before my session the "new" trainer called me to reschedule my appointment. I ended up canceling this because I was a little shocked of this news and scheduled a meeting with the trainers manager who wanted to set me up with someone else for 6 sessions left (between 2 people). I was done with them no longer needing there services. I wanted out for other reasons as well like the lack of cleanliness, multiple thief's and nothing done about it, lack of caring, rude staff, unable to speak with management, scheduling, empty soap dispensers, no notifications about receiving a new trainer, the list goes on. After finally be able to speak with the manger who said that he was the highest person we would be able to speak with, we asked for our money back for the last 6 sessions (3 a piece) in the amount of $220.00 and was told sorry we are unable to do this because there are other options for you guys to continue to train. Over and over asked for our money back and still nothing. Asked for the number to corporate and was given not only google search but a number to the employee IT maintenance center. After finally speaking to someone at corporate still they are unable to refund the money but now its because of the contract ending early. Still we got no where with this and we are out $220.00. Only go to LA Fitness if you enjoy throwing money away because they DO NOT give back refunds.

La Fitness in North Miami Beach, Florida - Tried to use a guest pass to check out gym

1.0
Details
I was a member of la fitness for a couple of years as a teenager (about 10 years ago). I have been doing crossfit for the last couple of years and decided that I wanted to go back to la fitness for financial reasons. I obtained a 3 day pass to check out the gym since it's been several years and look around to see if they have what I need for my regimen and give it a try. When I tried to use my pass I was asked to sit down with the general manager. He told me I could not use the pass bc I was already a member and when I asked him to look me up in the computer bc it had been 10 years he refused, told me "I don't have to honor your pass I'm the general manager." He kept repeating that to me everytime I asked him to just look in the computer to see. He then proceeded to lecture me and tell me I was talking down to him because I was asking him to just look. Needless to say, I took my pass and left. WILL NOT BE USING LA FITNESS.

I didn't have that particular problem, but I was a member at that location for about eight years and it went downhill every year. The machines were old and most of them were never replaced, even during the so-called renovation. I finally moved out of North Miami Beach so luckily I don't have to go back there.

La Fitness in Wayne, New Jersey - Fraudulent sales practices

2.8
Details
Last year my membership expired in early July. I was away for the summer and rejoined in September. When I paid I noticed that my membership expiration date was still 7/3 despite the fact that I was paying one year in advance for my membership. I tole the sales person that this was unacceptable at which point he wrote on and signed my receipt extending my membership until September. On my way out of the club I took a turn at a contest wheel and won 2 additional months of membership at which point the salesman wrote over the date and set my expiration until November 09. Come July I was informed that my membership was expired. I returned to the gym with my written agreement, the club manager scanned a copy and advised me that someone from corporate would get back to me. From early July to mid August every visit to the gym resulted in a hassle at the front desk, to make matters worse the club manager quit without ever doing anything about my situation. I went home and e-mailed La Fitness, they set me expiration at 9/9 rather than 11/9 because the salesman had modified my expiration twice. My son's membership was similarly mishandled. He was handed a signed business card at the time he renewed, the card said 1 free month. When his membership expired it took 3 weeks for corporate to credit his account. Each visit he or I were treated like trespassers rather than members since before the gym opened. The customer service at LaFitness is horrendous, they acted as if they did me a favor by taking 6 weeks to resolved the issue caused by their salesperson, the offered no apology for the amount of time I wasted dealing with the issues and they did not honor the agreement their agent entered into. I intend to sue them and join a different gym.
