Hi, I was in a similar situation and there was a cancelation fee that i did not want to pay because I am going to college..anyways all I did is go to my bank represanative and tell them to manually cancel the automatic billing so they stop charging you. It worked for me, I hope this helped.

La Fitness - Gym Subscription Review

First when I walked in to check out the gym it seemed nice and people were very nice. My family already had a plan and I was checking to see if I wanted to join so I was going to test it out. While I asked to check it out and try their equipment they just kept trying to have me sign up first. Which wasn't a problem but then they told me to go test it out and then we can talk about joining and setting me up and joining of my family's plan. When I went to work out Chris, had called my mom and told me I had wanted to join and to add me right now. So she did. Soon to realize and I was checking out the gym Chris had came up to me and told me my mom had just signed me up. He didn't tell me he had told my mom that "I" said I wanted tojoin. Chris and their crew aren't about helping they are about money. Bunch of idiotic ***. La fitness doesn't keep their machines in tack nor their equipment because they are too busy scamming people.

the same thing happened to me, but with medical issues. I told them that I have concerns with being ill again (just finished chemotherapy felt as though i needed a trainer to strengthen back up, but ended up making my bone pain worse)and not being able to go train anymore.

Before signing the contract, they said don't worry if you get ill I will gladly blah blah blah.. now they have given me the run around for a few weeks now. The manager avoiding my calls.. finally spoke to him and he told me that he doesn't have the authority to do anything.

Omg. So I had to call their.main office..geez ... it was the total opposite of what he said. The only way I can cancel with out all the fees is if I am "totally disabled" omg even when I was going through chemotherapy and lost my hair and endure all that pain I was not considered disabled by ssi or the state..

imagine their criteria s for "totally disabled" do not sign your life away.. they seam nice but its all sales BS.....

all a numbers game and meeting quota to them... stay away.

LA Fitness is a SCAM

I used to love going to this gym but after my experience I want everyone to know how evil and disgusting these people are. Instead of charging me the 29.99 they AGREED they would, they charged me 44.99 a month.On top of that, they charged me for 4 months AFTER I went in with my boyfriend and cancelled my account. AND they sent billing charges to my la fitness account which I NEVER EVEN MADE, meaning they sent it to a place I obviously couldn't check instead of to my email WHICH THEY HAD DONE WHEN I WAS A MEMBER.they purposely sent charges to a different place so I wouldn't catch them.this is illegal and believe me when I say I'm going to sue because I know others who have been in the same situation with la fitness.I WILL get my money back and I will NEVER go back to that place because the people who run la fitness are seriously *** up in the head.I'll make sure everyone I know knows about how this gym is a pure scam and no one even knows what they're talking about.

Awesome club. Sometimes people make mistakes...

it's happened to me and they gladly corrected it.

Sounds like this "pissed consumer" is above mistakes and was looking for the posh treatment for a low budget gym. I have been a member for over 4 years now and am incredibly satisfied.

La Fitness - Manager Review from Staten Island, New York

Inessa the manager in Staten Island flirts with everyone's husband. Only interacts with all the men disregards women. Sits in her car in the parking lot and sleeps. Doesn't dress professional and speaks very inappropriate. Not management material.

I’ve been disgusted at how the Boca Raton, FL club runs its operations for years now, which was supposed to be a premiere or exec club as I understood it originally before it opened. The mens shower area is FILTHY constantly.

The men's areas, at least, aren't cleaned after business hours so that it’s clean for the next day but rather sporadically throughout the day. Every day in the men's shower area I see bandaids, toilet paper, SHAVERS, all sorts of disgusting filth CONSTANTLY. And the carpeting in the mens locker room reeks of stench, like old shoes. As far as I can tell it has never been replaced, only cleaned (supposedly), from the day the club opened.

In fact, many people have commented about this and requested that the carpeting be ripped out and the area TILED to be a much more healthier and cleaner environment. You do this at your newer clubs but the older clubs continue with carpeting. But nothing is done. And, leaks, leaks, leaks!

From the day it opened there were roof leaks! For several years the mens locker area had ceiling tiles out and trashcans to catch water leakage. It was regularly all over the carpeting and floor, adding even further to the filthy carpeting issue.

And the cleaning crew is a joke with substandard cleaning.

It as though managements hires whomever they can off the street and throws them in to clean with a bucket and a mop. Oh, and just yesterday I was getting dressed when a woman walks into the mens dressing room unannounced. I'm butt naked! Upon leaving I noticed a sign was placed at the men's entry that women will be cleaning in the men's area, but doesn't someone find that as strange as I do????

I highly doubt that women would find it acceptable to have a man just walk into their area unannounced. Absolutely unacceptable! MAJOR cleaning of these facilities should happen after club hours and be 100% ready for the club to open each morning, with routine, interim cleanings throughout the day.

I’m not the only person making these observations and complaints. Ratings and reviews such as this one and Consumer Reports online say it all.

Management is a joke, they don’t participate in making the club what is should be and as far as I’m concerned at this point, should be fired, including regional, for letting this go on for so long without doing something about it. Whatever happened to the customer experience and taking pride?

If I continue to see filth in the men’s wet areas, my next complaint is going to be to the health department.

La fitness is a scam, if it does not profit them in anyway. They are very aggressive salesman. The guest pass is just something to make someone come into the gym to try and sell packages, and will refuse to redeem a guest pass a any means necessary. Worst experience ever.

I bought a 40 dollar a month membership it requires a first and last payment to start. I used the club once!

the day after I bought it. I waited about 2 weeks and decided not to continue for my own reasons, I called and said I wish to cancel. They said come in... I thought it was wierd but what ever I did it ...

apparently they didnt cancel it.... so the 1st comes around, I had just by chance called in my credit card lost before this date (1st) so customer service or what ever hounds they hired called me litterally 12 times in two days for payment for a new month. I said you must be mistaken I canceled it and I also have not and will not give you the new credit card number. So the next business day I went into the club and said hey can you make sure my member ship is canceled your hounds are after me they said I need to cancel it..

Im like WTF... I tried twice already... she insisted on charging and officially setting it up as canceled in the system. I almost went postal in the club...

I paid it to avoid ripping her head off in front of God and the club. I called the corporate office and told them what happend they imediatley gave me my money back on my card. I am asuming that goes through okay I will see... The number I called was 949-255-7200 incase anyone needs it.

I also took the time to say ... did you guys know that there are litterally hundreds if not more people all complaining about the same thing on the internet .. they want to cancel the membership but seem to have issues with getting it done. (I am not even counting Consumer Affairs Reports ( ALLOT of them I must say ))...

TIPS for LA FITNESS ... besides (GFYS)

1. Dont make people have to come into your club to cancel... what kind of *** is that?

2.

MAKE sure you tell them you need 10 days notice BEFORE the deposit payment is due to be able cancel with no *** off issues from LA Fitness.

3.

Change your business pattern of requiring so many hoops to just walk away... it might actually be a great marketing tool.

La Fitness in Saint Petersburg, Florida - Non-stop phone harassment for a cancelled membership

I joined on a 6-month membership, this was understood right when I signed up and it ran out in April. But they keep attempting to bill me for a membership I don't even have anymore. I've lost count of how many times I have explained this to their billing department or the person calling; now I don't even pick up the phone any more because it doesn't do any good at all. They just call back the next day. And they use rotating phone numbers, so there's no real way to block them. My credit card number was changed, due to an unrelated fraud incident, so thankfully, they cannot put through any more unauthorized charges on my card. But what they are doing is harassment, and someone in Consumer Affairs should be doing something about it. But they're not. All I can do is alert absolutely everyone I know via Facebook, tell them every time I get another phone call, and tell them never to get mixed up with LA Fitness. It's all I can do, since I can't get the phone calls to stop.

La Fitness - Review about Poor Treatment from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

I joined LA Fitness with the belief that I would receive good treatment and proper instruction from its employees. the Cecil ity and its equipment were very clean and well kept.my trouble started though when I first joined because there are hidden fees in becoming a member.then as soon as I joined the manager wanted me to talk to a trainer which I agreed to. However I did not know that their training fees for helping you were so high and that the cost is outrageous.they wanted at least $160 dollars a month for a year just to help me out. LA Fitness at no time did they explain these hidden cost or make them know to me. Then just weeks after joining I found out that I would be facing at least two surgeries. I ask the trainer he signed me to the contract you please cancel it for medical reasons. They have been stonewalling and avoiding all contact ever since I've made the request. In my opinion LA Fitness has little to no regard for the health of its members because if they did they would have treated my request and concern a lot more fairly and differently. It points out to me that this fitness club is just interested in making a lot of money at any cost with no regard to its members happiness and well-being. Consumer beware this fitness club is a big rip off.
